Pupils’ work and progress are assessed regularly and thoroughly through observation, structured review and regular reflection.
Assessment information is used to plan teaching and adapt approaches, interventions and support strategies so every pupil can progress.
Progress towards EHCP outcomes is monitored regularly, and we contribute fully to annual reviews with families, local authorities and professionals.
Families receive an annual written report on their child’s progress and attainment, alongside ongoing communication throughout the year.
Where appropriate, pupils work towards GCSEs, Functional Skills, AQA Unit Awards and ASDAN, with small-step success recognised along the way.

No. Success at LCE Academy is defined broadly. Academic progress, personal development and emotional regulation are equally valued, and for many pupils attendance itself is a significant success measure, from increased consistency over time to accessing learning without distress. Where appropriate, pupils can work towards GCSEs, Functional Skills qualifications, AQA Unit Awards and ASDAN programmes.

Every pupil begins with comprehensive baseline assessment to establish clear starting points, identify strengths and understand specific needs. This information shapes their curriculum pathway and support from the start. Pupils do not need an EHCP to receive SEND support: where needs are identified, provision is put in place promptly and reviewed regularly.
