About our school

Who we are

A new independent school for young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.

LCE Academy is a new independent school created to meet the needs of children and young people with significant social, emotional and mental health needs across Oldham and the surrounding areas. Our pupils deserve more than a placement. They deserve a school built around belonging, safety and ambitious futures.

Why LCE Academy is different

Five commitments that shape every day, for every young person who walks through our doors.

01 / 05

A relational approach that sits at the centre of everything

We understand behaviour as communication, and we prioritise connection over control. Our staff are trained in trauma-informed practice, enabling them to respond with curiosity, consistency and compassion.

A curriculum that balances academic progress and personal development

Pupils follow a carefully sequenced curriculum built around their starting points. We combine strong subject teaching with therapeutic principles, social development and purposeful pathways into adulthood.

A values-led culture

Resilience, Integrity and Respect shape every interaction. These are not posters on walls. They guide our decisions, our teaching and the way we support pupils to rebuild confidence and ambition.

A strong partnership model

We work hand in hand with Life Changing Education, drawing on deep experience in SEMH and alternative provision. Our approach ensures early intervention, high levels of communication and bespoke support plans for every young person.

A commitment to next steps

Our focus is on giving pupils the skills, qualifications and belief they need to succeed beyond school. Whether that is a return to mainstream, a specialist route or further education and employment, progress is always planned and purposeful.

Not posters on walls. Our values guide our decisions, our teaching and the way we support every pupil.

  • 01 Resilience We help pupils build the self-management and emotional regulation to keep going when things are hard.
  • 02 Integrity Our values guide our decisions, our teaching and the way we support pupils to rebuild confidence.
  • 03 Respect Behaviour is understood as communication. We prioritise connection over control.
