Remote Education
Remote Education & Outreach Support
At LCE Academy, we understand that for some children and young people, attending school every day is not always immediately possible. Absence is rarely about a lack of motivation. More often, it is linked to anxiety, emotional distress, trauma, safeguarding concerns, or a pupil not yet feeling safe enough to access learning in a building-based setting.

What we do
Our Approach to Remote Education
Remote education at LCE Academy is not a replacement for school. It is a temporary, supportive bridge that helps pupils remain connected to learning while we work towards regular, confident attendance on site. We focus on reducing barriers, rebuilding trust, and supporting emotional regulation alongside learning. Pressure is never the driver. Safety, consistency, and connection come first.
Every remote education plan is personalised, flexible, and reviewed regularly to ensure it remains purposeful, appropriate, and in the pupil’s best interests. Our approach to remote education is rooted in relationships, safety, and inclusion. Education does not stop when a pupil is absent, and neither does our commitment to them or their family.
Process
A Relational & Inclusive Model
Our remote education and outreach support prioritises:
Family Relationships
Maintaining strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families
Emotional Wellbeing
Supporting emotional wellbeing alongside academic engagement
Return To School
Working towards a successful return to on-site learning
Reduced Anxiety
Reducing anxiety associated with education and attendance
We understand that progress is not always linear. Our role is to stay connected, consistent, and responsive while pupils build the confidence and regulation needed to re-engage fully.
Learning During Periods of Absence
For pupils with an EHCP, remote provision is aligned to agreed outcomes and reviewed in partnership with families and professionals. During periods of remote education, learning is carefully planned to remain achievable and meaningful. The focus is on:
Literacy & numeracy
Habits & Routines
Confidence & Engagement
Emotional Readiness
Supporting Reintegration
from the Start
All remote education at LCE Academy includes a clear plan for returning to school. Reintegration is not an afterthought, it is built in from the outset. We move at a pace pupils can manage safely, while keeping long-term reintegration firmly in view.
Support may include:
Gradual or phased returns
Blended approaches combining home support and time on site
Familiar, trusted staff supporting transitions
Flexible timetables that build confidence step by step
Working in Partnership with Families
Integral to our approach.
Parents and carers central approach.
Parents and carers are central to our approach. We work closely with families, local authorities, and other professionals to ensure support is joined up, transparent, and focused on the best outcomes for each pupil.
Safeguarding
Safeguarding remains our highest priority. All outreach and remote education work is carefully risk-assessed, monitored, and overseen by senior leaders.
Our commitment
Whether learning takes place at home, through outreach, or on-site, our focus remains the same: to help pupils feel safe, regulated, and supported, creating the foundation they need to re-engage with learning, rebuild confidence, and move forward successfully.
