Curriculum

The curriculum is designed to meet the social, emotional, mental health and learning needs of our pupils.

LCE Academy

Our Curriculum

All pupils access a broad and balanced academic curriculum, adapted to their tier and individual learning needs.

Core Curriculum

Nurturing confidence and capability through a structured core curriculum that translates small-step learning successes into recognised, functional qualifications.

Extended Curriculum

A flexible, high-interest curriculum extension designed to foster emotional regulation, build positive relationships, and discover personal strengths through practical, hands-on learning experiences.

Bees From Everywhere

A worker bee is the city's oldest symbol of graft, soot and sparkle. We use it to teach SEMH learners that Manchester's past and present are one continuous story and that they themselves are part of the hive.

Assessment

A trauma-informed, continuous evaluation process that measures emotional regulation, relational growth, and academic readiness, ensuring support is precisely calibrated to each pupil's developmental pace.

Qualifications, Outcomes & Progression Pathways

Given the Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) profile of our cohort, the school prioritises: regulation & emotional well-being, social, relational, and employability skills preparation for adulthood

Designed around our pupils’ needs

  • Flexible
  • Tiered
  • Right time, right support

Safeguarding and Inclusion

Safeguarding and inclusion underpin all aspects of curriculum design and delivery.

Curriculum planning reflects pupils’ vulnerabilities, promotes emotional safety, and supports the development of healthy relationships, self-awareness and resilience. SEND support and safeguarding systems work closely together to ensure pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
