Humanities, RE & Citizenship

Humanities, RE, and Citizenship at LCE Academy provide pupils with meaningful opportunities to explore the world around them, understand different perspectives, and develop a strong sense of identity and belonging. Our approach recognises that pupils with SEMH needs benefit from learning that is relevant, discussion-based, and connected to real-life experiences. Teaching is carefully structured to promote curiosity, respect, and engagement, creating a safe environment where pupils can explore ideas, values, and social responsibility at a pace appropriate to their individual needs.

The curriculum integrates history, geography, religious education, and citizenship to help pupils understand societies, cultures, beliefs, and the impact of human choices over time. Learning is enriched through discussion, debate, case studies, and real-world examples, supporting the development of critical thinking, empathy, and moral reasoning. Citizenship education plays a key role in helping pupils understand rights, responsibilities, democracy, and British values, empowering them to participate positively in school and wider society.

Learning Pathways

Humanities, RE, and Citizenship at LCE Academy are developed not only as academic subjects, but as foundations for personal development, social awareness, and ethical understanding. Through personalised teaching and reflective learning, pupils build confidence in expressing opinions, respecting diversity, and making informed decisions. This curriculum supports pupils to become thoughtful, respectful, and responsible individuals, prepared to engage constructively with their communities and the wider world.

Message from our staff

A small message from each staff member

Sam Gray Headteacher

LCE Academy is built on the belief that every young person deserves a school where they feel safe, understood and inspired to grow. We are proud to be creating a genuinely transformative SEMH provision for our community, driven by relationships, shaped by compassion and committed to changing futures.

Krystian Liptrot Proprietor

Life Changing Education was created from a belief that every young person deserves more than just access to education - they deserve opportunity, dignity and a future they can believe in. Our work is about removing barriers, raising aspiration and creating pathways where pupils can truly flourish.

David Jeal Deputy Headteacher

Education should be a place where young people feel understood before they are judged, and supported before they are challenged. Every learning pathway should be thoughtfully designed to build confidence, curiosity and real-world readiness. When curriculum is inclusive, it gives every child the opportunity to succeed.

Lindsey Drews Assistant Headteacher

Inclusion is at the heart of everything I do. Through strong relationships, high expectations and personalised support, I work to ensure that every pupil, particularly those who have found education challenging, is given the structure, care and opportunity they need to re-engage with learning and thrive.
